Pretoria info

I love Pretoria because it is much more relaxed and the pace is a lot slower than in Johannesburg. The people are friendly and generally very helpful. Pretoria has a lot of nature reserves which gives it a feeling of being in nature in the city. The wind very seldom blows in Pretoria.

Pretoria is a city in the northern part of Gauteng Province, South Africa. It is one of the country's three capital cities, serving as the seat of the executive branch of government.
Pretoria is named after the Voortrekker leader Andries Pretorius, and within South Africa is popularly known as the "Jacaranda City" due to the thousands of Jacaranda trees planted in its streets, parks and gardens resulting in streets lined with purple.
Pretoria is situated approximately 55 km (34 mi) north-northeast of Johannesburg in the northeast of South Africa, in a transitional belt between the plateau of the Highveld to the south and the lower-lying Bushveld to the north. It lies at an altitude of about 1,339 m (4,393 ft) above sea level,in a warm, sheltered, fertile valley, surrounded by the hills of the Magaliesberg range.
Pretoria has a humid subtropical climate with long hot rainy summers and short cool to cold, dry winters. The city experiences the typical winters of South Africa with cold, clear nights and mild to moderately warm days. Although the average lows during winter are mild it can get bitterly cold due to the clear skies, with nighttime low temperatures in recent years in the range of 2 to −5 °C (36 to 23 °F). The average annual temperature is 18.7 °C (65.7 °F).
Pretoria suburbs are outlying areas of PretoriaSouth Africa. Pretoria is divided into 5 regions namely Eastern, Southern, Central Western, North West and North East. The Elegant Elephant is situated in Moreleta Park in the Eastern suburbs.
Moreleta Park (Afrikaans: Moreletapark) is a suburb of Pretoria, South Africa, situated 12 kilometres (7 mi) southeast of the city centre. According to the 2011 census, it has a population of 27,539.
Moreleta Park is a suburban area with the majority of people commuting to work elsewhere; e.g. Johannesburg. It has a broad mixture of properties including office parks, retail shopping centers, hospitals, churches, upmarket single stand housing, gated security complexes, as well as typically smaller and higher density residential units built within an outer wall that forms a security barrier.
